Candidates with appropriate Honours degrees in relevant areas of biological and physical sciences, like Botany, Zoology, Chemistry and Physics may be considered for admission into the M. Sc. degree programme provided such candidates make up for deficiencies in their undergraduate courses recommended by the Department.

Relevant undergraduate courses in the Department of Agricultural, Civil Engineering and Soil Science may be prescribed for the M. Sc.  programme in Hydrogeology and Engineering Geology. Also, a mathematical background and introductory knowledge in surveying are required. Candidates for the M. Sc. programme in Mineral Exploration must have a good background in Chemistry and mathematics.

The candidates shall be required to satisfy the examiners in each of the required courses as well as submit a thesis-based research and to defend it in an oral examination.
